The Cisco Aironet 1550 Series requires the use of external antennas with N-Type connectors. As these access points take greater advantage of the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO)features supported under the 802.11n standard, the number of radio transceivers per frequency band has increased. Depending on the specific model, some 1550 access points have dual-band antenna ports while others have dedicated 2.4 and 5 GHz antenna ports.
